ARK
|
Over
the decades, Magisterium pressure mounted against the
Host to abandon their defensive posture and determine
the
source of the Forms' invasion into Echo Alpha and, subsequently,
their ability to threaten Second Heaven directly. The
ARK was designed by Ministry of Greater Engineering
And Research to be used by the Host in an expeditionary
role.
Supported
by two
Archangel divisions, and a ring of yokozuna class 'See-twos,'
the Ark would move beyond the Halo for extended operations
in an effort to identify 'Form' clusters and their origins.
Built on a re-tooled, super-heavy arthropod chassis,
the Ark takes its name from the Advanced Reconnaisance
Kit wired throughout the craft. The advanced electronics
in the Ark allow it to locate, identify and track up
to 144,000 individual objects and coordinate communications
between as many units if necessary. The full capabilities
of the Ark were not fully known when it began its maiden
operation in late 2940. It did not return.

Bolter
|
Bolters,
also called Battery Guns or Bolt Guns, take their
names from the lightning bolt-shaped 'high voltage'
warning logo applied on the grip or body of the
firearm. All bolters fire two shell types, typically
loaded in a breach manner, which combine to provide
the destructive force of the weapon. Battery guns
have a two step firing procedure. The primary shell
called the 'anchor' is fired followed by any number
of secondary discarding sabot shells called 'caps.'
As the positively charged 'caps' move within range
of the negative anchor(s), the caps will discharge
electrical arcs toward the anchor. Any grounded
object intersecting an arc will be hit by the high
voltage discharge. Caps stop discharging when their
internal fuel cells are spent.

Ghosting
|
Without
the use of a massive phasing engine, material can
not be placed 'out of phase' and pass from one dimension
to another. However, smaller man-portable phasing
units can pass a 'ghost' between dimensions. A ghost
is an insubstantial 'snapshot' of the area
within the generator's projected phase field. Used
mainly for echo to echo communication, a ghosted
object would appear similar to a real-time hologram.
|
Halo
|
The
energy blanket projected from a phase generator
is called a 'halo.' The Ascension and Ragnarok class
generators could project a halo that covered 1200
cubic miles from its centerpoint. Phasing between
echoes could only occur from within the coverage
of a halo. It was discovered that a halo has many
secondary effects the most
important of which was the inability of a black
body to pass through the corona of
the halo.

Host
|
The
military defense force protecting Second Heaven against
incursions from the Forms is referred to as 'the Host.'
|
Phasing
gate
|
A
body phasing from an origin dimension to a target
dimension will appear at the exact same location
in the target dimension. Since the material in dimensions
can differ, it is entirely possible to phase to
a point that is occupied by a physical object. To
prevent this catastrophic possiblity, corresponding
phase gates were created in Heaven City and in Second
Heaven. Passing through the departure gate would
guarantee an unobstructed arrival through a destination
gate. Before its destruction, Ascension II could
sustain a single duplex phasing gate. The Ragnarok
Engines could sustain twelve gates each. Second
Heaven's phasing gates were referred to as Heaven's
Gates.
|
Phasing
generator
|
Using
the principles of Phasing Science, massive phase-field
projection engines called phasing generators were created
in the 21st through 22nd centuries on Earth Prime. A
phasing generator projects an energy blanket called
a 'halo.' It is only within this area of stability that
phasing between dimensions can occur. |
Ragnarok
Engine
|
Second
Heaven's Massive Phasing Generator, the Ragnarok Engine
projects a halo of 1200 cubic miles. Initially the
Ragnarok supported twelve phase gates, however, the
gate to First Heaven was locked and decommissioned
after the city fell to the Forms. Two other gates
close to the edge of Rangnarok's halo, the Shekinah
City gates, were destroyed when the Forms suddenly
appeared on its
outskirts at the beginning of the War of Incursion.

Trig
Tank
|
Short
for 'Trigger Tank.' Designated ELR-12 Mobile Rifle
by the Host, the Trig Tank is an Extreme Long Range
backline mobile artillery unit. Capable of firing
multiple shell types over a distance of 300km, Trig
Tanks are most effective when its targets are coordinated
by an ARK reconaissance unit.
